I checked the library Twitter and Facebook Group.
On the way to work, I finished reading Lovecraft Country. Matt Ruff, the author was inspired to write this book by the experience of black science fiction fans. There is a lot of meta science fiction in this book. It contains many references to other science fiction writers and stories throughout the book. There is quite a bit of material that draws on H.P. Lovecraft as well as similar authors like August Derleth. Another inspiration for this book is the Negro Motorist Greenbook. There are many references to the main characters in the book seeking safe hotels and places to stop for black drivers. The time setting is the 1950s. Part occurs in the south. There are a lot of different themes in this book which pull together into a very curious setting. I enjoyed reading this book tremendously. Add in the idea that the villain is an alchemist and scientist with strange tendencies and connections to secret lodges of other wizards and it makes for a fantastic story.
I also read some more of Team Human. I am reading about what separates human consciousness from artificial intelligence. Douglas Rushkoff is writing about what makes us human and different from machines.
I checked the displays. I contacted people about programming. We have a Graff Denim Jacket program for teens coming up.
I shelved a cart of fiction books in the mezzanine. I also shelved some nonfiction books in the mezzanine. I also weeded some books in the mezzanine. Things are getting a little better.
I read a copy of the New York Times Book Review and the December Bookpage.
