Once Upon A Time, WPA Poster, 1938

Daily Thoughts 11/13/2020

I checked the library Twitter and Facebook Group this morning.

I checked the displays.

We met to discuss weeding and database cleanup for the library.  I am going to be focused on weeding the fiction and the biography.  We are also going to be doing some database cleaning for audiovisual material.

I generated some shelf lists for audiovisual items.

I also picked some older computer books to be discarded because they were out of date.

I deleted some records for missing items.

This morning, I finished reading Joy at Work by Marie Kondo and Scott Sonenshein.  It is about how to be neat, organized, and happy at work.  It has a very upbeat tone to it.  A lot of it is removing physical and digital clutter as well as finding ways to be happy with what you have.

I also read some more of Active Measures.  I am reading about how spy agencies attempt to get control of peace movements.  It describes how the KGB tried to use nuclear winter as a way to reduce nuclear armaments in the west.  There is a nice description on why peace movements should not be aligned with governments.  Also, there is some interesting material on disinformation and AIDS.  The book describes some very destructive and malicious actions by spy agencies.
